Genius Loci

Genius Loci. A unique exhibition held at the A. G. Leventis Gallery with the works of the pioneer Cypriot artist Ioannis Kissonerghis. The “spirit of the place” is reflected in the artist’s watercolour paintings, who is clearly influenced by the British landscape painters visiting Cyprus during that period. Our designers walked in his footsteps, using a Serif typeface for the title, in order to convey the simplicity of his times, while using a more modern typeface for the subtitle, in order to give a more contemporary tone to the identity of the exhibition. The logo’s colours are inspired from the colours that the artist himself was using.

the logo itself was framed with details from Kissonerghis’s paintings. Regarding the promotional material (posters, etc.), we used some iconic watercolor paintings of the artist, from which we removed the color (black & white), while retaining it in some place in order to emphasize them.

Publication

In the framework of the temporary “Genius Loci” exhibition that was held at the A. G. Leventis Gallery, the appios® team designed the exhibition’s catalogue. Our designers created a unique catalogue inspired by the artist’s watercolours, while using a matte paper in the printing process, in order to depict his works in the best possible way.
